Indoor air handlers typically operate in the low-30s decibel range. Outdoor inverter condensers modulate their speed and run significantly quieter than traditional systems.
Inverter technology delivers high SEER2/HSPF2 ratings, resulting in lower utility bills compared to fixed-speed systems. Check each model’s specifications for exact ratings.
Installation & Support
No. Many are true DIY (MRCOOL® DIY® series), but some—like Universal, Central Ducted, and Olympus—require professional installation. Each product page specifies whether the system is DIY or Pro.
The MRCOOL® DIY® series comes with pre-charged Quick Connect® line sets that require no vacuum pump or gauges. Most homeowners complete these installations in a few hours.
MRCOOL® Universal, Central Ducted, and Olympus systems generally require professional installation for refrigerant line connections, electrical work, and commissioning to maintain warranty coverage.
Basic tools: drill, level, stud finder, hole saw for wall sleeve, and a helper for lifting. No refrigerant tools are needed for DIY® systems.
Single-zone DIY systems typically take a few hours. First-time installers may need a day. Multi-zone or non-DIY systems take longer and should be scheduled with a licensed HVAC professional.
Yes. Each unit ships with a printed manual, and we host detailed installation guides and video tutorials on our website.
We don’t provide installation directly, but many customers find licensed professionals through platforms like Angi or HomeAdvisor. We provide the necessary documentation to support installers.
For systems that require professional installation, hiring a licensed HVAC technician is typically required to maintain MRCOOL®’s warranty.
